Upcoming Annual Meeting

Please join us on Thursday, October 10th at 6 PM in the Emporium for our annual meeting. Here is the agenda. We hope to see you there!

Lookit! It’s a First Friday video from Arts & Culture Alliance!

New Board Members

I just want to take this opportunity to welcome our new board members to the group! We have resident Christine Cinnamond, and business owners Kellie Kinder of Shuck and Cru Bistro, and Ben Hubbard of The Village Marketing Group. We’re really looking forward to an amazing 2013 on the block. There are exciting businesses coming in, the return of Art on the Block, and a lot of fun stuff happening in the near future. So stay tuned!

Annual Meeting

The 100 Block Association’s annual meeting will be held on November 13th at 6 PM in the Emporium at 100 S Gay Street.

If you’d like, you can view the Agenda beforehand. Also we will be voting on new board members and you can view the ballot for an idea of who will be representing the block. You may notice that we need another resident to be on the board. If you or anyone you know is interested in serving on the board in this capacity, please make plans to attend the meeting and run as a write-in.

We look forward to seeing you all at the meeting!

Hola Festival

The Hola Festival will be taking place this Saturday, October 6th on Depot Street from 11 am to 6 pm. Expect street closures, including the viaduct, starting sometime around 6 am.

If you have any First Friday activities taking place on the block, please email me and I will put your event on our Event Calendar. I try to keep the calendar updated regularly, even when there are long pauses in blog entries. And of course, Twitter and Facebook are updated daily.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for things you’d like to see on the blog, drop us a line and let us know. We’d love to have more community input about website content.

New Parking Meters

The new parking meters are active today! Please remember to pay when you park on the street. It is $1 an hour with a 2 hour maximum. You can read more information on the 100 Block Construction Blog, written by Rick Emmett. Also, if you have more parking questions, you should check out CBID’s new website Park Downtown Knoxville. It should be a useful resource for all parking conundrums.

Board Members Needed

The 100 Block Association is actively seeking new board members. We particularly need some residents who are interested in serving to apply. We meet the second Wednesday of every month at 1 PM. The location varies from time to time. If you think you might be interested in serving on the board please email me and I will send you an application. Or you can download the .pdf file here.

Our annual meeting will be on Tuesday, November 13 in the Emporium at 100 S Gay Street. We will meet from 6 pm to 8 pm. Please try to attend because this is your best chance to share your thoughts and concerns about the block.

In other news, you may have noticed the new parking meters on the block. They will go into effect at the beginning of October. More information about those meters will be forthcoming.

We got so many pictures and video of Art on the Block!, I thought I’d spend some time this week showing them off. These were taken by Angela Howard of Urbhana:

It’s Time!

It is time for Art on the Block! I hope to see you out there, having a great time!

A small change, the aerial artists will be performing in the window of the Emporium instead of the Summit Hill Park. However the fire twirlers, hoopers, drummers, and band Pistol Creek Catch of the Day will still be in the park.

If you’re looking for parking, Jackson Avenue Lot on the corner of Jackson and Gay is city owned and has free parking nights and weekends.

A special thank you to CBID for their help with funding our event. We appreciate it so much!
